Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport has confirmed that three-time Kwik Fit British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden will join its line-up for the 2026 campaign. The BTCC veteran joins race winner Árón Taylor- Smith as part of a two-strong line-up as part of the squad's expanded, new look roster.

This places Shedden at the wheel of a Speedworks Motorsport prepared Toyota Corolla GR Sport for a second season in succession as he aims to build on 2025's sole victory at Oulton Park. Shedden's presence on the grid ensures he will have an opportunity to achieve what would be a record-equalling fourth BTCC crown.

Shedden said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport team for 2026 - there’s something that just feels right about a Scotsman donning those iconic blue and white colours! Buoyed by the way that I ended the season in the Corolla last year, I’m heading into the new season hugely motivated and ready to take the fight to the next level.

“It’s a huge benefit to have our plans in place so early so our planning and preparation can start in earnest - I owe a lot of gratitude to my personal partners and the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport partners in making that possible. The programme is being brought together incredibly professionally, and I am confident that we are going to be in a great position to have a successful year together.”

Mark Blundell, Sporting Director, Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport, said: “Welcoming Gordon into the fold for 2026 is a huge coup for the team. His reputation, results and record speak for themselves - we are signing up one of the series’ most successful drivers ever to complete a super strong lineup for our first year as a two-car outfit. In all our conversations to get to this point, Gordon’s hunger and desire to succeed has been obvious and we look forward to providing him with the platform he needs to hunt down even more victories.”

The 2026 BTCC season features six events at MSV venues, including the season opener at Donington Park on 18/19 April. Visits to Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Oulton Park will follow through spring and into the summer. A height of summer return visit to Donington Park is billed for 26/27 September whilst Brands Hatch will bring things to a close, as is traditional, on 10/11 October.
