Michelin is set to act as the official control tyre supplier for the all-new Clio Cup Great Britain Championship, following the recent news that one-make Renault hatchback action will return to the UK with MotorSport Vision Trackdays (MSVT).

This announcement means that all competitors in the new series will benefit from tyres provided by a globally renowned brand. Michelin will provide its Pilot Sport Slick and Wet tyres, to make sure competitors in Clio Cup GB are prepared whatever the weather in 2024.

Clio Cup GB’s Michelin tyre package also ensures consistency with the other Renault Clio Championships operating internationally. By sharing a common tyre package with existing Renault Clio championships, Clio Cup GB can offer competitors a proven package despite formally being a new series. This will also ensure a seamless transition for teams and drivers with previous Clio Cup experience.

Confirmation of a world class control tyre supplier underlines Clio Cup GB’s key ethos of making sure drivers can showcase their individual skills. The entire technical package has been structured around ensuring that entrants compete on a level playing field and Michelin’s involvement is an extension of that.

The Michelin Pilot Sport Slick and Wet will be available for competitors to use in double-header race events at Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Anglesey, Snetterton and Oulton Park. Competitors can make the most of official Michelin tyre support at each of these meetings.

On race weekends where there are 10 or more cars on the grid, one entry will be drawn at random during the drivers’ briefing to receive a set of four Michelin Pilot Sport Slick tyres for use on their Clio Cup GB car.

Championship Manager Stuart Garland said: “We’re enormously excited that Michelin is all set to act as the official control tyre supplier for the MSVT run Clio Cup Great Britain Championship from 2024. It’s hugely important to us that competitors feel like they’re racing on an even playing field, with an opportunity to showcase their abilities. And it was a no brainer, not just to appoint a control tyre supplier, but to make the most of Michelin’s expertise and experience in providing race tyres for Renault Clios.

“Despite being a new championship for 2024, we’re offering customers the opportunity to race with a proven package.”
