Barwell Motorsport did the double at Oulton Park after Alex Martin and Sandy Mitchell converted pole position into victory this Monday afternoon in the British GT Championship.

The #78 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 took Barwell’s second win of the day following their stablemates, Rob and Ricky Collard, won in the #63 Lamborghini in the first race this morning. Martin and Mitchell had to settle for third this morning but have come out on top this time round after a fierce display in wet/dry conditions.

After leading from the start, Martin and Mitchell didn’t come under threat until the pitstop phases. second-placed Mark Radcliffe and Tom Gamble in the #27 Optimum Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3 Evo made a slightly quicker stop and took the lead exiting the pitlane but Martin, having just got in the car, made swift work and on the slippery track with fresh slicks, took the lead back into Cascades almost immediately.

This overtake proved crucial after the majority of the second phase of the race was held under neutralised conditions with a lengthy Full Course Yellow period. This ensured that the Optimum McLaren had very little opportunity to mount another challenge leaving Martin and Mitchell to come through for victory.

Third position went to Ian Loggie and Phil Keen in the #6 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, their second podium of the day with the #59 Garage 59 McLaren of Shaun Balfe and Adam Smalley in fourth. Race one winners Rob and Ricky Collard came home in fifth position.

Chris and Alex Buncombe made an earlier pitstop than most, taking dry tyres on early in the pitstop window, and jumped up to sixth position in the #2 Team RJN McLaren with the #15 RAM Racing BMW M4 GT3 of Raffaele Marciello and John Ferguson right behind in seventh.

Richard and Sam Neary were seventh in the #8 Team Abba Racing Mercedes-AMG ahead of the #3 Greystone GT Mercedes-AMG of Mike Price and Callum MacLeod. Kevin Tse and Maximilian Goetz rounded out the top ten positions in the #18 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG.

Seb Morris and Charles Dawson topped the GT4 class in the #31 Team Parker Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 after a battle in the first part of the race with this morning’s winners, Mikey Porter and Jamie Day in the #7 Forsetti Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. During the pitstops, Morris and Dawson were able to retake the lead and held it to the flag.
