Hitech Pulse-Eight's Tymek Kucharzyk claimed a stunning double pole position in qualifying at Silverstone this morning, with a best lap over half a second clear of the field. The Polish star put in a late lap that proved a small improvement over an already clearly quickest time with a few minutes to go, ensuring he claimed both pole positions on offer.

James Hedley led much of the early stages of the session, with a string of laps in the first 10 minutes putting him top of the times with a 2m07.399s effort, just as the red flags flew, when the Chris Dittmann Racing car of Seb Murray found its way into the gravel at Vale with just over half the session remaining.

Upon the resumption, Hedley again continued his regular improvements, registering a 2m06.201s only for Kucharczyk to better it by a tenth and a half, with Rodin Motorsport’s Ugo Ugochukwu also demoting Hedley.

Next time around, and with three minutes remaining, Kucharczyk showed his superiority, as his 2m05.103s put him over half a second clear of the pack, headed now by teammate Will Macintyre, with Elite’s McKenzy Cresswell rising to third with a late lap of his own.

But right at the end, Kucharczyk found just a fraction more time, to guarantee his pole position, with his previous best being enough to ensure he took the double.

Macintyre claimed second, his best GB3 qualifying result so far, 0.535s away from his teammate and 0.264s ahead of Cresswell.

Completing a good morning for Hitech was Gerrard Xie in fourth, only 0.061s away from making it a Hitech 1-2-3, and 0.036s clear of Rodin's championship leader Louis Sharp, who was fifth quickest.

The New Zealander's teammate Ugo Ugochukwu completed the top-six, 0.011s further back and 0.084s clear of the lead JHR car of Josh Irfan, who was a figure towards the front throughout, and the final driver within a second of pole.

Elite Motorsport's second car of Jarrod Waberski was next up in eighth, ahead of Hedley who dropped to ninth in the final stages, and 0.014s clear of JHR's John Bennett, who completed the top-10.

Kucharczyk's second best time was just 0.020s away from his outright pace-setter, and gives him race two pole also, this time ahead of Cresswell by almost nine tenths of a second.

Macintyre and Xie are next up ahead of Ugochukwu and Irfan, who completes the provisional race two grid top-six. The top-10 is filled by Sharp, Bennett, Waberski and Fortec's Colin Queen.
