Oulton Park will be refreshed in time for the motorsport season with a range of venue improvement projects completed over the winter with others underway ahead of the first event of the year next month.

Significant changes to the circuit itself include extensive Armco barrier upgrades at a number of locations. This has been carried out in tandem with extensive renewal of the tyre walls around the track, whilst the wholesale completion of upgrades to marshal post fencing has also been completed.

Other key projects focussing on more targeted sections of the venue include the installation of a new gravel bed at Old Hall. This has been designed to reduce the chance of impact with the outside barrier, whilst still allowing competitors to run wide with an opportunity to rejoin.

The runoff area on the exit of Cascades is being improved too, whilst new Vallelunga kerbs have been placed at the exit of Brittens and on the approach to Hilltop.

Beyond that, the circuit has invested heavily in its general equipment and infrastructure over the off-season. This includes the acquisition of more over £6500 worth of brand new medical equipment to improve support for both those on the track and attending as spectators.

The venue will also benefit from the use of a new tractor for maintenance and grounds work this year, whilst a new zero turn mower and flatbed truck have joined the support vehicle fleet. Two new track toilets have also been installed for the marshals, improving facilities for those working trackside as volunteers during race events.

Oulton Park Circuit Manager, Jon Rush, said: “It’s been another busy winter for us here at Oulton Park as we prepare for what should be an excellent season of motorsport. We’ve made some pretty significant changes to the circuit itself, both with a more general overhaul of the trackside barriers and tyre walls and some larger projects centred around key areas. We’ve invested heavily in some of the more behind the scenes aspects of how the venue operates too and we’re in a very strong position for the rest of the year.”
