Record breaking six-time World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea is eyeing his best results of the season, as he makes his first appearance at his home round with his new Yamaha crew this weekend (12-14 July) at Donington Park.

After a tricky start to the campaign, Rea has edged closer to the pace and took a double pole position at Assen in April. But form is on his side at Donington, a venue where he has won six times, and the Northern Irishman has finished on the podium in seven of the last nine races to be held at the East Midlands venue.

But he enters the event recovering from a wrist injury picked up in a high speed crash at Misano, though still hopeful of a strong weekend in front of his home fans.

“I’m really looking forward to Donington, especially after Misano as I’ve had a few weeks to let my wrist injury heal and I hope to be back close to 100% fitness before the weekend!” he said.

“It’s a circuit I really enjoy, it’s both my team’s and my own home race so it will be great to have a lot of support there. I’m looking forward to trying to keep building our speed and our pace and work towards being more competitive.

“Like always in the UK, the weather can play a part – so I hope for everyone including the fans that we get to have a good, dry weekend! I’m pretty excited for this one, can’t wait to get started on Friday morning.”

Tickets for the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship this weekend are available in advance until 4pm on Wednesday 10 July, with further savings for teenagers aged 13-15 and free entry all weekend for children under-13. For more information and to book, click here.
