Tom Ingram topped the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship order for a second practice session in a row by lapping the Donington Park National circuit in 1m07.429s this afternoon (Saturday).
For a second successive session, the Team Vertu Hyundai was in strong form at the East Midlands circuit, with three of its cars ending the 35-minute on-track period in the top-four. This time though, Ashley Sutton was able to place his NAPA Racing UK Ford second to break up the domination a little bit.
Three-time title winner Sutton was unable to match Ingram’s pace however, ending up just over three tenths behind the best time. Adam Morgan was the second best Hyundai this time around whilst Tom Chilton continued his strong Saturday showing to take fourth.
Behind that, Dan Cammish was fifth in another of the NAPA Ford Focus STs, one place ahead of reigning champion Jake Hill. This was a marked improvement for the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver, who didn’t manage to break into the top-10 earlier on.
Mikey Doble continued his impressive pace from earlier to end up seventh once again in the grid’s one and only Vauxhall Astra, just ahead of Dan Lloyd in yet another Hyundai – in this case a Restart Racing run example. Charles Rainford and Josh Cook were ninth and 10th.
