Tom Chilton was fastest in Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Free Practice 2 at Donington Park this afternoon, heading the order with a late lap of 1m33.129s on the Grand Prix circuit.
Chilton rose to the top of the times with his final flying effort in the 35-minute session at the wheel of his Team VERTU Hyundai. That was enough to put the multiple race winner three tenths clear of four-time title winner Ash Sutton who had been first with just seconds left on the clock.
Nobody else matched that pace however, ensuring Sutton and NAPA Racing UK did secure second, just ahead of series leader Tom Ingram in the second of the VERTU branded machines. Charles Rainford was next in his LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR BMWs with Daniel Lloyd next for Restart Racing in an evenly matched group from second through to fifth.
Daniel Rowbottom’s NAPA liveried Ford was first of the cars in the bottom half of the top-10, running just over four tenths off the pace after going fastest earlier on. Chris Smiley was seventh in the second of Restart Racing’s Hyundais, just one thousandth of a second ahead of Dan Cammish.
Aron Taylor-Smith and Sam Osborne rounded out the top-10 as the chequered flag fell.
