Dan Cammish celebrated his 200th start in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship by winning the second race of the day at Donington Park this afternoon (Sunday). Cammish led much of the race and survived a late furry of rain to cross the line first for NAPA Racing UK.

Race one victor Tom Chilton took the lead into Redgate when the lights went out, just keeping his Team VERTU teammate Tom Ingram behind him with Ash Sutton’s Ford Focus ST third. But before the race went much further there was a brief pause for a safety car when Senna Proctor, Sam Osborne and Aiden Moffat were involved in an incident McLeans.

Full-speed action resumed on lap five and there was drama immediately with Sutton, Chilton and Daniel Rowbottom coming together at Redgate. This left Ingram in the lead with Cammish behind but with a new cast of chasers just behind with Adam Morgan, Daryl DeLwon and Chris Smiley amongst those in the hunt.

Cammish and Morgan passed Ingram on the fifth and sixth lap respectively before settling into a pattern at the front. This continued for several laps until a sudden downpour emerged on lap 15 with nearly all of the frontrunners running wide at McLeans and attempting to recover through the gravel trap.

Cammish and Morgan held position amidst the drama, but behind them Gordon Shedden managed to keep relatively out of trouble and rose from seventh to third having started 12th on the grid. The safety car was promptly summoned to guide the pack home with Cammish crossing the line first ahead of Morgan and Shedden.

Chris Smiley crossed the line fourth after running towards the front throughout the race, however he was later disqualified following the post-race technical checks. This promoted Ingram to fourth. DeLeon was fifth after losing some ground from fourth during the rapid onset of rain. Josh Cook and Aron Taylor-Smith gave Toyota a strong result in sixth and seventh just ahead of Sutton who recovered to eighth after his earlier collision with Chilton.

Jake Hill completed the on the road top-10 in his Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport BMW. The reigning champion had cut through the order to fifth but was heavily delayed during the late rain and lost ground. Daniel Lloyd was promoted to 10th following the exclusion of his teammate Smiley.
