The Historic Grand Prix Car Association has attracted a capacity grid of 32 classic single-seaters for its appearance at the Legends of Brands Hatch Superprix this month (12/13 July). This will be the series’ first appearance at the Kent circuit since 2021 and the races on the GP circuit will be its first in the UK of this year.
A wide range of cars from Formula 1’s earlier years has been attracted for the occasion, including two examples of the stunning Maserati 250F which won so many Grands Prix in the hands of Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss during the mid 1950s. These front-engined icons will be raced by Elliott Hann and Simon Hope at Brands Hatch.
Other cars from the front-engined era include a selection of early ‘50s Coopers and a stunning Ferrari 246 Dino which will be raced by Tony Smith. There will also be an Indy 500 runner from the era in action in the shape of Geraint Owen’s Kurtis Kraft 500C.
The more extensive part of the entry is for the slightly later rear-engined cars, which appeared in Grand Prix racing in the late’50s and began to dominate as the 1960s arrived. This includes machines from Formula 1 up to 1964, such as the Cooper T53 and T51 in addition to examples of the Lotus 18 and 21.
Other cars to look out for include machines from lesser known manufacturers like LDS and Heron, plus a single Netuar-Peugeot. The field will also feature a selection of Tasman and Intercontinental cars from Cooper, Brabham and Lotus.
Tickets for the Legends of Brands Hatch Superprix at Brands Hatch on 12/13 July are available from £23 in advance with reductions for 13-15-year-olds and free entry for under-13s. For more information click here.
