Chris Smiley launched to the top of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship timesheets with a lap of 46.725s during the second practice session of the day at Brands Hatch this afternoon (Saturday).
Smiley’s best effort spearheaded a list of 13 drivers who went faster than this morning’s best time, with the Restart Racing Hyundai going 0.091s clear of its nearest rival in sunny conditions. The next best car was another of the Hyundais though, with Adam Morgan ending up second a the wheel of his Team Vertu entry.
Behind that, Aiden Moffat moved into the top-10 for the first time today with a time just three thousandths behind Morgan in his LKQ branded BMW. Mikey Doble was next in a strong showing at the wheel of his Vauxhall Astra with Tom Ingram’s Hyundai completing the top-five.
Charles Rainford followed up his chart topping showing from the earlier practice session with sixth at the wheel of his BMW. Behind that, Dan Lloyd was another Hyundai to enjoy a positive showing in seventh, with Michael Crees another strong runner in one of the Korean machines just behind.
Tom Chilton was yet another Hyundai running well in ninth, with James Dorlin completing the top-10 in the first of the Toyotas. Four-time champion Ash Sutton just missed out on the top-10 in 11th at the wheel of the NAPA centenary liveried Ford Focus ST.
