Daniel Rowbottom seized his first race win of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season with a charging drive on the Snetterton 300 circuit this afternoon.
Race one winner Dan Cammish initially led in another of the NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus STs from pole position. But he was swiftly passed by teammate Ash Sutton who rocketed from third to the lead after also passing Tom Ingram’s Team Vertu Hyundai.
Cammish swiftly lost further ground, having been forced to start the race on the hard tyre along with Ingram and Sutton, and was down to eighth by the end of the first lap. Sutton and Ingram managed to hold on to their positions initially, despite a pack of drivers on soft tyres lining up behind the with Rowbottom the first of them in third.
Ingram dramatically slid out of contention at Riches on lap three after getting sideways and impacting with the barrier. Thie elevated Rowbottom to second with the majority of the 12 lap race to run and tyre advantage over Sutton ahead. Ingram pitted at the end of the lap and retired from the race.
Rowbottom passed Sutton later the same lap, and the latter was forced to cede further positions in the laps that followed on the harder tyre. Dan Lloyd was up to second in the first of Restart Racing’s Hyundais a lap later, with Adam Morgan, Tom Chilton and Chris Smiley forming a queue of i30Ns just behind.
On lap eight, after sizing Rowbottom up for several laps, Lloyd made a bold move at Riches to take the lead. But Rowbottom’s Ford fought back through the infield section of the 300 layout, eventually regaining the lead at Hamilton.
From there, Lloyd’s challenge faded as he lost positions to both Morgan and Chilton in the final laps. This left Morgan as Rowbottom’s primary challenger and he duly pressured the leader until the final lap but was unable to find a decisive opening. Rowbottom eventually crossed the line first, less than four tenths ahead of Morgan.
Chilton completed the podium, just beating Lloyd to a place on the rostrum with Smiley rounding out the top-five and the frontrunning Hyundai group.
Mike Doble drove a strong race to sixth in his Vauxhall Astra, eventually crossing the line just under five seconds behind the leader. This result also ensured he would start the third race of the day from pole position following the reverse-grid draw. Josh Cook and Charles Rainford crossed the line eighth and ninth ahead of Sutton who finished 10th a the best of the hard tyre runners.
Just outside the top-10, reigning champion cut through the pack to 11th after not being classified earlier on, whilst Cammish wound up down in 20th after sinking back from pole early on.
