Brands Hatch successfully completed a major programme of planned in-season improvements earlier this week, ahead of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship’s visit this weekend (10/11 May).
The headline development was a significant resurfacing project, which included the entire ‘Clearways Oval’ section of the Indy circuit, right round to the Brabham Straight. New track surface was also laid on sections of the Grand Prix circuit.
In total, more than 8,200 square metres of new 40mm BOWTRACK surface was laid during the three days immediately following the GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS event last weekend.
Another upgrade has been carried out to the runoff at Graham Hill Bend. This comprised the removal of the old concrete surface and the installation of additional asphalt on the corner exit.
All work was carried out by Thomas Bow, under the supervision of the circuit operations team led by Circuit Manager Mike Lally, who commented: “We routinely invest in modernising and improving our circuit for the benefit of all users. As part of our annual review, we committed to upgrading several sections of track surface during the window between GT World Challenge and British Touring Cars, where average temperatures are optimal.
“Despite the limited time available, Thomas Bow did a superb job and successfully completed another resurfacing project comfortably ahead of schedule, with everything in perfect condition ahead of the coming race weekend.”
