KMR Sport's Alex O'Grady withstood race long pressure from Elite Motorsport's Fred Green to claim his second win of the weekend at Snetterton, and to extend his championship lead once more.
The Irishman started from pole, and after a delayed start due to a pair of spinners on the original formation lap, he made a good start when the race finally got underway with a reduced duration of 16 laps.
But his strong getaway was cancelled out when teammate Lily-May Watkins was pitched into the air at Wilson on the first lap after an attack from Michael Koh, leaving her car stranded in the runoff area.
O'Grady made a good restart when action resumed at the end of lap two, building an immediate lead of half a second. But that was as big as it would get, with Green constantly applying pressure.
After retiring in race one yesterday, Green needed to mount a fightback, but his chances of taking victory were dented after he made a slower start than O'Grady. That dropped him into the clutches of Fortec's Thomas Ingram Hill and Douglas Motorsport's Dayton Coulthard immediately behind on the first tour, but Green just about held firm.
After the restart, Green constantly applied pressure to O'Grady, and was able to get into the slipstream towards the Brundle and Nelson complex on lap three, but not quite able to make a move.
A locked brake at Wilson on the following lap was an example of the pressure O'Grady was under, but despite Green's constant presence in his mirrors, the KMR Sport contender hung on to win by less than half a second.
The lead duo finished just over a second ahead of Ingram Hill, who took his third podium from the last four races.
Coulthard finished a couple of seconds further back in fourth, with teammate Conor Grant recovering from yesterday's grassy excursion to take fifth.
Torrin Byrne somehow hung onto sixth despite a titanic battle with Pace Performance teammate John O'Donnell and Hillspeed's Enzo Hallman. The green and white Pace duo went wheel to wheel on multiple occasions in the latter stages, with Hallman joining in too. O'Donnell ultimately pipped Hallman to the line for seventh by 0.125s.
Elite's Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso and Hillspeed's Connor Willis completed the top-10, and part of the train of cars behind the big Pace fight, which stretched down to Koh in 14th.
O'Grady now holds a 66-point lead heading into the final race of the day, which is due to commence at 14.40.
