The British Superbike Championship blasts to Donington Park this weekend (15-17 May), with a top class line-up of two-wheeled heroes set to do battle across three headline races. Local stars Kyle Ryde and Leon Haslam are currently flying high after the opening exchanges at Oulton Park just over a week ago. The reigning double champion’s Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing team has switched to Ducati machinery over the winter, and the move paid dividends immediately in Cheshire as he powered to a treble victory to get his defence off to a perfect start.
Moto Rapido Racing’s Leon Haslam pushed him all the way though, as he finished second in all three races. The 2018 champion was especially feisty in the third encounter at Oulton Park, where the lead was exchanged between the duo and with McAMS Yamaha’s 2022 title winner Bradley Ray, who took third place in each race.
With fellow champions Scott Redding (Hager PBM Ducati) and Josh Brookes (DAO Racing Honda) both in the mix, plus perennial favourites Glenn Irwin (Nitrous Ducati), Storm Stacey (Bathams AJN Racing Ducati) and Max Cook (AJN Steelstock bimota) and plenty more, expect some epic tussles around one of the country’s best-loved biking venues.
