VRD Racing's Nikita Bedrin blasted to a new GB3 benchmark lap time at Spa-Francorchamps, with a rapid 2m11.293s lap in the second free practice session on Friday morning.
The championship leader heads into qualifying having set a lap almost 2.5 seconds quicker than last year's pole, and 3.7s clear of the existing GB3 race lap record.
He was 0.286s quicker than his nearest rival Deagen Fairclough, who was second for Hitech, while Rodin's Abbi Pulling has enjoyed a very strong day so far, having been inside the top-three in the final two practice sessions. She was only 0.010s away from Fairclough's effort.
Elite Motorsport's Kyuho Lee was fourth quickest on the combined times, 0.028s behind Pulling and 0.025s ahead of the second Rodin of Martin Molnar. Each of the top-five set their best times in second practice.
Maxim Rehm's session one topper of 2m01.726s, at that point, the all-time best GB3 lap time at Spa, put him sixth overall on the combined time sheets. The German driver also topped session three, where lap times were around a second slower than the outright best.
Hillspeed's Thursday pace-setter Dante Vinci was seventh quickest on Friday, a tenth ahead of Hitech's Jin Nakamura, while Xcel duo Rowan Campbell Pilling and Lucas Fluxa completed the top-10. The drivers from sixth to 10th set their best times in FP2.
Qualifying is up next at 15.30 and 15.50, with the first session forming the race one grid, and the second session settling the starting order for race two.
