The ZYN British Superbike Championship is reaching crunch point, and next weekend’s (2-4 October) trio of races at Donington Park will be vital in the hunt for this year’s title.
Following a scintillating weekend at Assen to kick off the all-important Showdown period of the season, the main title protagonists are arriving fresh off an incredible head-to-head battle in which championship leader Kyle Ryde held off the charging Scott Redding and Bradley Ray to take Race 3 victory.
However, the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions rider didn’t have it all his own way in Holland, with Redding piloting his Hager PBM Ducati machine to claim two wins across the weekend. The ex-Moto GP ace therefore narrowed the gap at the top of the standings to Ryde, while Ray stayed within reach too with a brace of podium finishes.
Although Ryde’s margin at the top stands at 68 points, the Showdown offers an increased haul of points from the Main Season, meaning that a potential 75 points are up for grabs across the three races on the full Grand Prix circuit. One mistake could see the title fight flipped on its head, and the leading riders will have to be on top form to claim victory around the famous twists and turns of Donington Park.
Ryde will have his beloved home support to cheer him on, but Redding has a fantastic record around Donington too since his return to the series, with the Ducati rider claiming his first win of the season at the circuit in May.
Never one to be discounted from the mix either is Ray and the McAms Yamaha outfit. The 2022 champion has been a constant thorn in the side of the Ducati riders throughout 2026, claiming several wins, podiums and pole positions to ensure he comes into the weekend third in the standings, and still with a mathematical shot at the title.
Moto Rapido Racing’s Leon Haslam has been amongst the front runners too in 2026, delivering a stunning pole position at Assen as well as a brilliant recovery ride from the back of the grid to finish sixth in the final race of the weekend.
A particularly fantastic late-season surprise has been the resurgence of Ryan Vickers and Honda Racing UK, who went on a remarkable run of form that saw Vickers claim four victories out of six at Thruxton and Cadwell Park, and he continued to fight for podiums at Assen. Keep a close eye on him across the weekend.
Max Cook (AJN Steelstock bimota) and Rory Skinner (Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha) have both tasted victory in 2026 too, while Storm Stacey (Bathams AJN Racing Ducati) and Glenn Irwin (Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Ducati) aren’t to be discounted either.
While the unmissable ZYN BSB triple header is the main event, with the first race on Saturday afternoon and two further contests on Sunday, there’s plenty more to look forward to. The Quattro Group British Supersport headlines the support package with two races across the weekend, plus further action from Pirelli British Sportbike and the Pirelli National Superstock series.
The open paddock means fans can meet the riders all weekend, especially during the dedicated pit walk on Sunday. Live entertainment will also be found in the Garage 39 restaurant, café and bar, with a DJ on Friday night and a live band on Saturday evening.
Big screens will also be located in the most popular viewing areas, with grandstand seating, limited outfield camping, and hospitality places still available.
