The 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship blasts
into life at Donington Park on 22-23 April, with the country's
leading tin top racers set to go wheel to wheel across three
spectacular races.
This year's grid of flame spitting saloons looks to be as
exciting as ever, with multiple series champions, race-winners and
newcomers all determined to start their season in style in the East
Midlands.
The BTCC is widely recognised as the UK's most popular and
dramatic car racing championship, with thousands of motorsport fans
expected to head to the venue to witness frenzied bumper-to-bumper
action.
The 27-car line-up is headed by Hyundai's reigning champion
Tom Ingram, who began his ultimately victorious season with a win
at Donington Park a year ago, and is out to do the same next
weekend.
He'll be chased all the way by BMW's four-time champion
Colin Turkington. The Northern Irishman is an all-time BTCC great
and could cement his name in the history books as the series' most
successful driver should he take the title this
year.
Another champion on the grid, Ash Sutton is back for more
too in his Ford Focus ST. The three-time winner is one of the UK's
most formidable contenders and an almost guaranteed factor for
victories at Donington Park.
There's a whole host of race-winners gunning to join the
list of champions while local interest comes in the form of 2022
star newcomer George Gamble (Nottingham) driving a Toyota Corolla
not that dissimilar to those that roll off the production line in
nearby Burnaston. Turkington's teammate Stephen Jelley, another
race winner on the grid, hails from Leicester, and Ford's Sam
Osbourne is another Nottingham resident out to impress his home
crowd.
As well as three epic BTCC tussles, including a reverse grid
thriller to end the event on Sunday evening, there's plenty more to
look forward to across the two days.
Aspiring F1 stars of the future start their season in the
British F4 Championship, there's glamorous sports cars in the
Porsche Carrera Cup GB and Porsche Sprint Challenge GB, plus more
tin top fights in the MINI Challenge.
There's plenty to see around the track too, with live music
in the Garage 39 restaurant, trade stands offering a range of
motorsport memorabilia, a funfair and the popular free of charge
pit walk and autograph session during the lunch break on Sunday
afternoon.
Main race day (Sunday 23 April) adult admission tickets
are available in advance for £34, with reductions for
13-15-year-olds, and free entry all weekend for under-13s. Advance
sales close at 4pm on Thursday 20 April with tickets available at
full price on the day. For more information and to book, click
